Cisco CEF - What happens if a FIB entry is not found?

    Sandor Gonzalez

I've been reading a lot trying to figure this out: It is my understanding that the FIB table is a mirror copy of the IP routing table. That being said, I would assume at first glance that if an entry is not found in the FIB the packet would be dropped. I'm afraid that is not correct. What happens in those cases?

Also, what is the different between an entry not present in the FIB and a Punt entry ?

      Thank you
