I have a router having IOS c2600-ADVSECURITYK9-M version 12.4(1a) release software fc2 and the image is c2600.advsecurityk9-mz.124-1a.bin
Today i started to do bgp labs and realised that bgp is not supported by this image.
How can I change the image ? I brought this from ebay 5 months ago. so i cant approach the seller for this . Any advise...
Thanks in advance..
Your best bet is to contact Cisco support for any options you may or may not have. See link below and look under 'Let Us Help' heading...
I believe depending on your affiliation with Cisco (business partner...etc) gives you certain benefits such as software downloads. It's unfortunate, when purchasing a product or service and finding out after the fact that it lacks certain necessities.
Hope this helps,
To be 100% honest, I think Cisco's license precludes it from being transferred. In other words, when you buy a device from eBay, it is a legitimate piece of hardware without licensed software. Software other than the base ip license can be quite expensive to purchase. I am certainly not a lawyer, so my interpretation may not be completely accurate. It would certainly be nice if there were some type of legal way to put any software on your lab gear.
The problem is that the 2611XM is end of sale so I question whether one can purchase the IOS from Cisco (via their sales facility).
For BGP you need C2600-JS-M which is Enterprise services.

Conwyn you're correct about the version you have listed. It's a 'deferred image'
COPIED FROM CISCO'S SITE: Deferred images are no longer be available for download. Customers are urged to upgrade to the recommended solution image or most current software version.
Sarlulu should be able to use either current versions (listed below) for c2611 series routers that include BGP. As Paul stated, it will more then be costly. You should also read the 'release notes' for any gotchas, caveats and additional information pertaining to your needs.
