    Issues Accessing ASDM

    Austin

I'm currently studying fo rmy CCNA Security, and am working on the portion for configuring ASA and accessing the ASDM.

I have configured everything correctly, and am able to get to the ASDM splash page, but am unable to successfully log in.

I enter in the address I am trying to get in to, and specify the username and password, but all I get is a spinning circle.

I'm using the Cisco press lab book to configure.

      Any thoughts?

I've seen some bizarre issues accessing the ASDM when you have a newer verison of Java.  If you happen to be using verision 7 you might want to downgrade to a version 6 of Java.

            Hi Austin,

As CiscoLoco mentioned, it should be a version of Java issue. When you lauch the ASDM, in the bottom right side of the login screen you have a small icon of Java, can you please click on it and copy the text of the window that will be open, so we can verify if your Java version is ok?

            Regards,

            Aref

              Hi Austin

Please note that if yu have updated to Java 7 version 51 you can only use  Java web start. as ASDM  + upgrade ASDM to version  7.1(5.100)

              Thanks

                All,

I was wondering if that would be an issue while trying to get my ASDM running. Below is the output I get before the launcher just spins:

                  Hi Austin,

Try to use JRE version 1.6.0.

                  Regards,

                    Aref and CiscoLoco,

It worked. I had to use 6 update 45. Thansk for all the help!

I may have further questions later as I'm progressing through my CCNA Security studies.

                    very best,

                    Austin
