Is there any command to check whether any routing loop is created .
I would use traceroute. If you see same nexthop IPs over and over again, there is a loop.
sample output that contains loop
1 7 ms 4 ms 1 ms 172.19.16.1
2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 172.19.0.1
3 5 ms 10 ms 5 ms 172.22.0.2
4 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms 172.22.0.1
5 5 ms 5 ms 7 ms 172.22.0.2
6 6 ms 5 ms 4 ms 172.22.0.1
Debug ip routing is pretty good but be very careful with running it!
What if we don't have access to the remote devices?
I think Vladimir has got a valid point.
routing loop can only be detected if you path towards destination intersect with loop area.
remote devices? i did not got it?
Suppose if packets are travelling from Router A to Router Z.
There is a routing loop between Router E, Router F and Router G. I was asking how do we do a Debug ip routing if we don't have access to these 3 remote routers.
