I have passed my voice written exam feb-20 2012, ever sicne i have started labbing on ver 7.0, i have been told current voice lab is in its 3rd year and soon it will be retired and new lab will be announced, i will highly appreciate if anyone of CCIE voice discussion group, clarify,along with the next version of lab.
we all are waiting for new announcement later this year;
still if you have passed the CCIE Voice written exam version 3, you will have some time to attempt the CCIE Voice lab exam v. 3. so called grace period.
When new version comes in and grace period expires, you will have to take new version of Lab untill you Written expires.
Here are rules: you must make an initial attempt of the CCIE lab exam within18 months of passing the CCIE written exam. Candidates who do not pass must re-attempt the lab exam within 12 months of their last scored attempt in order for their written exam to remain valid. If a candidate does not pass the lab exam within 3 years of passing the written exam,he or she must re-take the written exam before being allowed to attempt the lab exam again.

If they announce a change, you'll probably have about six months before the old lab retires and is replaced by the new lab. I can tell you from experience, though, that lab dates fill up fast when a new version is announced.
