Hi all I have to do a class project in college and I need a software for diagramming networks and environments. I have heard of some but the vast majority are extra. also know the packet tracer and the project but do not convince me. I require something more professional
If any partner could suggest me a license and would greatly appreciate it.
Hi Richard, I was at Cisco Live yesterday and saw a great product demo for mapping networks dynamically. It is a product from NetBrain. I think you can get a free trial on their website, although I don't know what you actually get or for how long. I have not checked it out yet as far as that goes, but I was impressed with the product. It beats Visio, if you want automation and dynamic diagramming. It will convert into Visio as well, so it may be a good starting point. If you do not have Visio license, you can always get open source Libre or Open Office Draw for free to do network diagrams.
Dia on linux is free - otherwise you're looking at OmniGraffle for Mac or Visio for Windows - both of which are pay products.
There are some online tools that are free - but typically you get what you pay for. You'll always run into a limitation somewhere. Visio is by far my favorite.
I use Visio as well, but it does require a license.
I took a look at NetBrain, and it looks cool. They have a free version called the personal edition that can connect up to 12 devices. It looks pretty cool. I'm not sure about the enterprise version, but they also have a consulting version.
