I'm thinking also to go for just CCNP routing and switching. Am I right thinking, that I need now only three exams to pass: Route, Secure and TShoot?
What about my ccna which will expire in October 2012?
Is there a condition that I need to pass at least one exam from ccnp to make my ccna still valid?
Hi, Yep 3 exams for the CCNP.
If you pass one CCNP level exam before your CCNA expires then it will renew your CCNA for another 3 years.
Don't forget that you need a valid CCNA as a pre-req to be recognised as a CCNP.
Hi, That sounds good to me. Either R or S first, makes no difference I don't think.
For me I did Route first since I needed it to help me with a project I was working on at the time.
Cisco's recommendation is to take ROUTE, then SWITCH, then TSHOOT.
As long as you pass at least one of the exams before October 2012 then your CCNA will be recertified for 3 years.
Once you pass your first CCNP exam you have 3 years from that day to pass the remaining exams.
Best of luck!
You could also take a CCNA specialist (Security, Wireless etc) exam which will also recertify your CCNA. I say this as the CCNP R&S exams cover a lot of info, where as you may find the CCNA specialist exams a bit easier to pass between now and October.
well, If you are in hurry then better to start with switching first, route exam is a little bit difficult than switching. plus I think switching is more interesting than routing.
I am stuck with ROUTING exam
Good luck !
