With respect to the Cisco 642-813 SWITCH exam topics below
Implement VLAN based solution, given a network design and a set of requirements
- Document the verification after implementing a VLAN solution
Implement a Security Extension of a Layer 2 solution, given a network design and a set of requirements
- Document the verification results after implementing a Security solution
Implement Switch based Layer 3 services, given a network design and a set of requirements
- Document the verification results after implementing a Switch based Layer 3 solution
Implement High Availability, given a network design and a set of requirements
- Document results of High Availability implementation and verification
Does anyone have an idea as to what would be detailed sub exam topics covered under each of the 4 topics above ?
I've always hated how vanilla the language can be on Cisco's posted exam topics.
I've been assembling a list of references that I think will be helpful to you. I've been adding links as I go through my studying.
I've gone through the link you provided (pretty useful). However, there isn't anything about the 4 specific sub-topics I've mentioned (documenting results)
Sorry I thought I had added some links in there that were design related but I see now I have not. I'll see if I can find some more info for you.
I couldn't find a lot but I think I can have an idea of what they're looking for.
The nice thing is that the requirements say "document the verification results".
The way to verify results is through the seemingly endless number of show commands.
So the reference I gave you actually would help with that as any of the pages that show configuration almost always also include the show commands to verify your results.
Cisco books I have read suggest that in the real world you would copy/paste the results of show commands to put into your documentation.
One thing I did before the ROUTE exam was go through the books and Cisco documentation and try out and review all the show commands. One of these days, when I have time, I'm hoping to make a full list of just the show commands I think need to be known for each of the CCNP exams.
Does that help?
