I am currently looking for a new LAN switching book. I have the Cisco LAN Switching book but this book is terribly old (13 yrs old) and i can't study it. I reviewed it and noticed many old technologies mentioned. Also, it uses CatOS as its OS focus which is disappeared completely from the market. On the other hand, i have the SWITCH book for the new CCNP which is worth looking.
Anyone got any ideas for a good switching book that covers the new 4.x blueprint?
I haven't really seen a good book that focuses on switching. The CCIE R&S written prep book covers switching decently, but really hands-on is the best way to learn switching. Cisco.com has a lot of good resources as well.
I found that book called "Cisco LAN Switching Fundamentals" published in 2004 which is better than the other 1999 book. ... Also, i have CCIE R&S Cert guide 4th edition but it is very limited in information and can be used for a real quick review only. Think i am going to spend time with the fundamentals and the switch books. If i find any gaps, then Cisco online documentation will help.
You could try the following cisco press book "Cisco LAN Switching Configuration Handbook, 2nd Edition" 2009
