So I have 5 more days till I take the exam.
I have used the Official Exam certification guide 2nd edition by Wendell Odom (this book is great!) along with the boson icnd1 exam environment for which Im getting 90% and working through the ones I gor wrong.
A few unknowns, which im sure everyone goes through not having done a Cisco exam before.
The main unknown, I see there is a 3rd edition of the official exam certification guide out, hopefully there isnt a huge amount of difference between the 2nd and 3rd editions in the exam!
Any D Day is five days!
Use Packet tracer to practice all show commands and options (syntax) that were in the book.
make sure that u can read and understand output of show commands
If you wake up from a deep sleep, yelling:
"The router gets the 3rd IP address from the 5th subnet of a /21, and I know what the range is for the rest of the subnet!"
then that is a good indication you may be ready.
Thanks Martin, I forgot to mention, I have been using a ICND1 lab sim too, but I downloaded packet tracer and its a cool simulator for sure, already setup a network with 2routers, 2 switchs and 2 pc's!
I liked that Keith and so true
Passed the exam, I stuffed up the first sim let question by clicking next and of course you cant go back, guys taking it be aware of this, this cost me 3 questions!
well Dwayne, i'm in the same boat you are in, i have been studying for two years and i think i am ready, but afraid to take the plunge so i will be very axious to hear how it goes, when you get back,
all i can say is make sure you have the fundamentals down cold.
espcialy subnetting , yes, practice subnetting at subnetting.org and subnetting.com
over and over till you are fast, and also router config commands, practice on configuring a router and get fast at it , on the test they will be checking to see of you know the basic configuration and trouble shooting commands,
practice practice practice, good luck sir!
let us know how you did, now go get um boy!
