I've finished reading Internet Routing Architecture and I want to buy a practice exam before attempting the BGP exam. I've used Boson in the past but I've not used their 'Marketplace' exams, which is the only one they offer for BGP now. Have any of you used it? What did you think? Can you recommend any others? Thanks!
You can download the GNS3 which work as your real gears and start practicing the BGP. You can reffer INE workbooks for BGP as it has the indepth of BGP.
Thanks & Regards,
I purchased the new Marketplace exam for BGP. It works just like their old practice exams and has the typical cisco type questions.
I'll probably be ready to take the real exam in a few weeks so we'll see if it was worth the investment.
How many questions does it include? Also what about other types of questions; such as, "drag-n-drops" and simulations. Does it include those?
How do you feel about the level of the questions? Do they seem too easy, too hard or good?
There are 4 exams included. Each one has 49 questions. I havent encountered any simulations. All have been multiple choice type questions. Some have a config or a diagram that you must reference to answer the question.
The difficulty level seems right and there seem to be plenty of "Cisco type" questions where they go out of their way to confuse you. So far the exams have helped identify weak spots in my preparation and so I think it was worth it.
Hi everybody, I took the exam three months ago and I had two questions about simulations (like packet tracert), I remember I had more or less 50 questions.
For preparing for the exam, I only used GNS for practical part and the next books (pdf also) for theory:
* Routing TCP/IP Vol2 by Jeff Doyle
* Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers v3.2 Vol1 and 2
Both books were enough for me.
Thanks for all your responses guys. I find the exam simulations help me and it sounds like the Boson one is as good as the last Boson one I got (CCNP ROUTE) so I will go for that and use GNS3 for practice labs.
Have any of you been able to find any decent lab workbooks for BGP? I used the Cisco BSCI lab portfolio for the ROUTE exam which had some basic BGP scenarios to setup and workthrough but I've not been able to find anything similar but more advanced for the BGP exam.
Did not find LAB workbooks for BGP, but here are some older labs from Cisco:
Hi johntaddeo. I was wondering if you have taken the BGP exam yet, and if so whether the Boson Exam practice matched up to the real thing? If you've not taken it yet, good luck for when you do.
I havent taken the exam yet, work has gotten in the way of my study time! The practice exam consists solely of multiple choice questions--and they seem to match the type of questions cisco asks on the exam. My only complaint about the practice exams is that they do not contain any simulations or simlets and so you wont get any practice on those types of questions.
I just came home from vacation and so I gotta start some serious studying! Good luck on your studies too!
