Hello everyone,

i was configuring eigrp authentication on two routers and the configuration on both the routers as follows

BB:

key chain key

key 1

  key-string kumar

!

interface Serial0/0

bandwidth 256

ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.252

ip authentication mode eigrp 90 md5

ip authentication key-chain eigrp 90 key

serial restart-delay 0

!

LONDON:

!

key chain keys

key 2

  key-string kumar

!

interface Serial0/0

bandwidth 256

ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.252

ip hello-interval eigrp 90 20

ip hold-time eigrp 90 25

ip authentication mode eigrp 90 md5

ip authentication key-chain eigrp 90 keys

serial restart-delay 0

As you can observe the key number is different but key string is same

The neighbour relationship didn't form between these two routers but happens when i remove the "key 1" and add "key 2"on BB.  but according to "ccnp 642-902 official guide by WENDELL ODAM"

By looking at the above pic as you can observe that "key chain name and key number used on the two routers do not have to match" this statement satisfies with key chain name but it didn't "key number".and for your informaton both keys on both routers are valid... i struck up here ..please someone help me out here....wendel
