layer 3 etherchannel

hai

 

when i configure  a layer 3 etherchannel  i am getting some error please helpme on this .layer 2 etherchannel is working fine .which ip want to give for port-channel interface .

 

i am using 2 no of  3560  switches .

 

Switch(config)#int po
Switch(config)#int port-channel 1
Switch(config-if)#sw
Switch(config-if)#no sw

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Port-channel 1, changed state to down

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Port-channel 1, changed state to up
Switch(config-if)#ip add 10.204.96.2 255.255.255.0
% 10.204.96.0 overlaps with Vlan96
Switch(config-if)#
Switch#

    Without even looking at your attachments, from the error message you are getting you need to go take a look at the IP configuration /address you have on you SVI for vlan 96 (Interface Vlan96).  You are trying to configure an IP address on the same subnet twice in a device.  (you cannot configure the same IP/subnet on two interfaces in the same device.)

    What IP address did you change to? What interface where you configuring?

    Hi Ting

     

    do a show ip int brief to see what IP ranges you are using. Then select something different for your Etherchannel.

    Hi, Ting

    I am agree with Babatunde   comments, Try the other ip add like (10.204.97.1  255.255.255.0) instead of 10.204.96.2 255.255.255.0.

    Hi Ting

     

    You only need 255.255.255.252 since it is point to point.

    Hi Ting

     

    Switch Number one

     

    int port channel-group 1

    ip add 10.204.86.1 255.255.255.252

    channel-group 1 mode on

     

    int range fa 0/1-2

    channel-group 1 mode on

     

    Switch Number two

     

    int port channel-group 1

    ip add 10.204.86.2 255.255.255.252

    channel-group 1 mode on

     

    int range fa 0/1-2

    channel-group 1 mode on

     

     

    Switch Number one

    ping 10.204.86.2

    Switch Number two

    ping 10.204.86.1

    Ting,

     

    Can you see other switch connected to that port ? Sh cdp neighbor will show if it is.

    From Switch 1 can you ping 10.204.86.2?

    From Switch 2 can you ping 10.204.86.1?
