IA, if you go over to the CSC board(Cisco Support Community) you'll see an average rating metric used over there. CSC is also participating in the Designated VIP program per their announcement on their site.
My guess is, this requirement was added for CSC right now, and either CLN will enable that feature as well, or they just wanted one set of requirements for the program and it needed to cover all participating boards.
Just some deductive reasoning there, hopefully someone from Cisco can comment and confirm my guess or provide more accurate info.
Well done to Scott, Travis, Jared. and the other guys on the list. You guys are a real treasure to the community.
i can understand what conwyn is saying and the requirements are very straight forward and understandable.
Well Done again.
Thanks. understood now.
Off topic I noticed the cisco support boards are running much more stable than CLN. Either they have more servers and horsepower or they are on backlevel Jive Clearspace code.
Also for non VIP after the CLN 4.5 upgrade, points are just points, right? Points have no implied value or benefits to having more or less at this time?
Perhaps Points could equal prizes. They could be something such as a Cisco book or a CLN Tee-Shirt. It might be difficult to ensure fairness but I am sure the budget for CLN could cover a few books.
Or a Ferrari !!!!!!!!!!
On a serious note I do not think points should be used as so much good stuff is done on both CSC and CLN that goes unrewarded.
I do not believe that anyone goes on the boards to earn points its just what we do. I spend more time here than CSC but there are people who do both or more on CSC.
Using points as a metric could scew the process as if you dont get scored you may get disillusioned, freinds could score each other heavily and we are already seeing "if you liked this answer rate me" which although yeah its really nice to get recognition is not my motivation.
Oh and bythe way, well done guys, and also well done to the other regular contributors for their ongoing effort. I think the peolpe here know hwo the heros of CLN are its nice Cisco recognise it also.
Keep up the good work
Pete, you bring up a good issue regarding the points. The point system is not perfect and never will be. I say that because the point system is dependant on users rewarding them and not everyone does that. For some it is a motivator, for others it is not. I think that's why the VIP program is not based on points alone.
This is pretty cool and like Grant I extend a big 'CONTRATULATIONS' for all initial entries on the list. You guys truly deserve the additional recognition.
Maybe everyone can pitch in with their points and stuff to get you a written/lab IE voucher
Wishful thinking at least...
Darwin! I think you misunderstood my intentions. I think it would be neat for any CLN member to be able to use points to get stuff, not just VIPs.
I got no interest in doing IE right now so you keep your points for your own voucher.
I know you all will continue to do what you do and get those that are technologically in need to their destinations.
Two thumbs up guys,
