Is it possible to pass 642-873 ARCH and get ccdp with my old ccnp? like ccip
An active CCNP fills the route and switch requirements for the CCDP, but the CCNP must be active! If it has expired, you would have to take the route and switch exams over again. I know 2 other users who are on CLN who had active CCNP's and passed the CCDA and Arch exam to get their CCDP. Remember that CCDA is a prerequisite for the CCDP, so you need the CCDA to get the CCDP certification.
Hang on a second this is not strictly true. Your CCNP could still be valid but if your BSCI exam or BCMSN exam is more than three years old these exams could have expired and you would have to do the equivalent new exam. I had to do this with my CCIP. My CCNP was still valid but because I had done my BSCI more than three years ago I had to do the ROUTE exam to get my CCIP.
Normally, I would agree Ferret, your post is along my thinking as well. **** I have had 2 different people verify that they had a current CCNP and their exams were over the 3 year age limit and they were still awarded their CCDP after passing ARCH. Now that this has come up again, and if you did have to retake an exam for your CCIP, it would be nice to have an official answer from Cisco on this. There seems to be some inconsistancy on this issue. Perhaps it is my understanding
As long as your CCNP is valid, you will earn your CCDP. I know, because in 2009 I took my ARCH exam and certified as CCDP. I took my first professional level exam in 2005, but obtained my CCNP within that three year mark in 2007. So, it works.
I've got current CCNA, CCDA and CCNP. I passed the fallowing old CCNP exams (all of them in the last three years):
-642-901 BSCI (Last day for this exam, July 31, 2010) OR 642-902 ROUTE
-642-812 BCMSN (Last day for this exam, July 31, 2010) OR 642-813 SWITCH
My question is: Am I eligible for CCDP if I pass the ARCH (642-873/642-874) exam?
Please note that Cisco site does mention only new ROUTE and SWITCH eams as a prerequisite for CCDP.
Thank you in advance,
