This is not right.
I take my SND next week. I've put months of study into it . Only now to find that there is a rottenly short
timescale of only 1 year to complete the next 3+1 exams for get CCSP. Not enough time. In my case I have CCNA already. I Think that for the people that have taken CCNA Cisco should let them go with this fomat at least for 3 years. So CCNA Security should not be a pre-requisite
To close on this topic, CCNA + SND will now be accepted as a pre-requisite for CCSP for three years until 11/17/2011.
You must take SND before it EOL on 11/17/2008.
Changes on the community and Cisco web site will be up this week.
A last question , since i have planned to give SND Thursday, 10 July 2008. It is 100% secure that, CCNA + SND will now be accepted as a pre-requisite for CCSP for three years until 11/17/2011, because changes on the Cisco web site are not reflected yet.
Thank you for your understanding.
Thanks for the respond...
But actually i want to that i have done CCNA but not given exam & now i want to appear for CCNA (security ) exam so can i directly give CCNA (security) or i have to first pass out CCNA (routing/Switching) paper first.
Thanks in advance..
CCNA is the pre-requisite for CCNA Security.
Please note that you have three years from when you take SND to complete the rest of CCSP. The CCNA + SND pre-req will be good until 11/17/2011, but you have three years from whenever you take SND to use it as part of the pre-requisite. If you take it July 15, 2009, then you have until July 15, 2011.
I hope this will be the last clarification and FAQs and website should be updated soon.
I'm glad I found this thread and just wanted to say thanks Deborah, you cleared up all the questions I was having.
I currently have my CCNA. Passed the SNPA a couple months ago and I am studying for my SND so I'm glad I can just continue down the track I was on so long as I do it before June/July 2009.
I want to ask if the same policy will apply for security specialist certifications. I have passed SND before 24th Jun and the CANAC exam after that day but not awarded the Network Admission Control specialist certification. I have opened a case with the cert support and have been answered that the CCNA security is a pre-requisite for that cert effective 24-Jun-2008. I think that this not logical and forgive me if I said it is not fair because:-
Why don't specialist certifications get the same treatment as CCSP where CCNA security is just an optional exam and can be replaced by CCNA+SND as pre-requisite for three years? for CCSP it is acceptable for 3 years and for the specialist cert it is not acceptable for even one month!!!
People who passed two exams before 24th Jun 2008 (SND + 642-591) got the specialist certification. Also people who will pass two exams (CCNA Security + 642-591) after 17th Nov 2008 will get the specialist certification, but any one who wants to get his cert between 24th Jun 2008 and 17th Nov 2008 has to pass three exams (CCNA Security + SND + 642-591).
So what is the reason for SND to remain as required exam on this period (between 24th Jun 2008 and 17th Nov 2008)? People will just wait for it to be retired and then pass two exams instead of three or may be take just one (either CCNA Security or 642-591) and then take the other after that day and no need to bother themselves with the SND exam.
I have updated my case with the cert support twice and got the same answer so I think that the problem is in the policy itself. I hope that Cisco will also revise the policy for the specialist certification as it did with the CCSP.
Hav u got ur answer???
Iam also confuse about this issue. If you have any update please share with me.
Is it compulsory to pass CCNA certfication before CCNA security??
