yes, we will have new single exam approach post Feb 24th but still 2 books. you can get Draft Book part 1 with Wireless chapter;
all other new topics should be in Part 2 CCNA book.
you don't ahve to buy new books; not part 1 anyway, just skip chapters that are out of scope. if u can get ebook or get chapter and read on Wireless from online books.
not sure about part 2, I would buy it.
so , 1 exam but 2 books to have.
best of luck
In regards to whether the new books for 200-301 cover much new content for 200-301, the answer is yes. I'd say by volume, about 30% of the pages in the new 200-301 Vol 1 + Vol 2 books are new vs the existing 200-125 ICND1 + ICND2 books. Some of the new content exists as entire new chapters, some as entire new major sections, some just as small topics here and there. FYI, just for new chapters, the new books have: four new chapters on wireless LANs, one on security architectures, three new ones on network automation. Anything you see in the 200-301 exam topics that isn't in the 200-125 exam topics list has commensurate content in the 200-301 two-volume set.
If you go to the CiscoPress web site, and find the page for each book, and click the "sample content" tab, you'll see the detailed Table of Contents for the book - FYI if you care to look around at the new content in detail when deciding.
Hope this helps, and thanks for asking,
I would strongly recommend going to Mr. Odom's blog site. He has a ton of information listed there for the new exams and how the old books can still be applied to the new exam including which chapters are more or less just copied from 200-125 to the 200-301 and the new chapters for the new topics.
It's a GREAT resource!
I'll jump in. The Library doesn't replace Vol 1 and Vol 2 in that Cisco Press will sell the Library long-term, and they will still sell each individual Volume long-term. Instead, the CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Library is just a means to sell the two volumes at a cheaper price. The CCNA Library is literally a fancy box that contains two products: The CCNA 200-301 Cert Guide Volume 1 plus the CCNA 200-301 Cert Guide Volume 2. And it costs less than if you bought each separately. If you want both volumes, buy the library. If for some reason you only want one or the other, you can buy them individually.
FYI, Cisco Press uses the term "Library" in that same way across its product line. EG, I believe there's a new CCNP Enterprise OCG library with both the CCNP Enterprise Core and CCNP Enterprise Advanced Routing Cert Guides.
Hope this helps,
Thanks for the feedback. I have purchased the prem ebook versions of the new guides as I didnt think I need two more large 800+ page printed books to keep around.At this stage of my learning, having finished the INCD1 book, with exam scheduled mid Jan 2020, I feel I need to get started on the 2nd volume...but now have a conundrum as to whether i should just move to new 200-301 material assuming it will cover mostly the same info as icnd2 book( 200-105) , or stick with the 200-105 guide . My strategy all along here was to complete both..books and exams..by Feb deadline.But at this stage, i still have lots of labs and practice to do just for 100-105 exam, and do not want to attempt without high confidence in success. Basically..my thinking now is that my efforts could be better made towards new 200-301 material with belief that mastering it before Feb deadline should allow me to either succeed with current exam(s) , or the new exam. I realize we are all different and there is no one answer to this, but expect others are probably having same debate as we get closer to Feb deadline.
Hi again Don,
A small clarification might be helpful then... by content/topics, the new Vol 1 isn't an updated ICND1 book, nor is Vol 2 an updated ICND2 book. I took the opportunity to organize the topics in what I think is a better flow, given that Cisco no longer breaks the CCNA content into two halves with ICND1 and ICND2 exams. So, with your idea of finishing the ICND1 100-105 book, and thinking that the new Vol 2 as an update/replacement for the ICND2 200-105 book, that's not true by content. If you glance over the chapter titles in the table of content with the older and newer books you'll see the diffs.
I agree many will be considering that same choice before the big day, but it seems to be a personal choice as well. Hope your study goes well either path you choose!
