The Wendell Odom ICND1 book title is: "CCENT/CCNA ICND1 100-105 Official Cert Guide"
You have until February 23, 2020 to study and successfully complete the ICND1 exam.
After February 23, 2020, the ICND1 exam will no longer be available. So if you don't believe you'll be ready by that date, I would recommend Wendell Odom's new CCNA Study Guide, which can be found here:
The material in the ICND1 and ICND2 books is still valid, but they won't be complete for the new CCNA exam. Additionally, per Cisco Press, you can purchase both new books (200-301 Volume 1 and Volume 2) at a significantly lower price.
Wendell does an excellent job of staying on topic in his writing.
Just been doing some light reading - found an explanation of the changes on the below website:
A boiled down version of the blog would be ICDN 1 + 2 aren't worth completing if you don't think you'll know the material before 24/03/20.
You'd be better off studying CCNA 200-301 - this is basically the equivalent of ICDN 1 + 2, as of Feb 2020.
The main difference being the 'paths' that Cisco have provided, confusing as they may seem, have been condensed into ONE exam, this being 200-301. One course to follow, one exam to take = CCNA certification. From there, you diversify and specialize in a field at CCNP level.
Thanks for everyones input!
Another quick question - there's 3 official books relevant to the CCNA 200-301 course:
URL: CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Library (this also comes in a B&N special edition)
Do you need both Vol 1 and 2 for the single CCNA exam?
Is the library a combination of the two books?
Correct. The library is both books (Volume 1 and Volume 2).
Yes, you will need both books for CCNA.
However, last I understood, Volume 2 is not yet available. So ordering the library could delay your receiving of Volume 1.
These are 800 page books. Unless you're an extremely fast and efficient reader, Volume 1 will keep you busy until Volume 2 becomes available. Plus, if you order before December, you can get Volume 2 for approx. $15 (per the Cisco Press link I posted earlier).
Lammle has a great book from Cisco Press as well. CCNA Routing and Switching Complete Study Guide: Exam 100-105, Exam 200-105, Exam 200-125 2nd Edition, by Todd Lammle. I used his CCENT book, PluralSight videos and Boson test bank to pass my ICND-1. I am using the book here, along with PluralSight and Boson for ICND-2 later this year.
