My name is Vincent Zhou, responsible for CCIE SP written and lab exam design and content development. It's nice meeting you in SP study group, welcome sharing any thought and ideas to learn SP exam, and welcome any comments to improve this certification.
I think the biggest question (at least that I hear from people) is needing to figure out what the plans are for the SP track? It's in dire need of revisioning, but there appears to be much confusion in regards to the existing SP track versus the SP OPS track and what the future will hold.
If you're looking for suggestions, I have several! But in the meantime, I will start off with the "what is Cisco's thinking?" question.
Are you planning to be at Networkers/Cisco Live this year?
Thanks Scott for asking the most popular question at the moment. I was planning to pursue my second CCIE track in SP, however I now have concerns. I'm not sure if it's worth the investment since I feel it's future is "uncertain".
In the meantime, there is always the CCIP Certification and prep. No time like the present.
I'm sure BGP and MPLS are not going anywhere.
CCIE SP will continue to develop in line of SP industry requirement, a new version is on the way to come out. SP exam will NOT disapper in future. In a new version, SP lab will test on both IOS-XR platform and IOS platform, features like IPv6, more TE, more L3VPN, more L2VPN, more Multicast VPN, Carrier Ethernet, etc will test in the exam, please pay attention on official annoucement for detail in later, thanks.
Do you know if this remake also implies a remake for the CCIP cert?
It's kinda old and i guess Cisco would align the 2 certs(CCIE SP&CCIP) in the same way they did in the R&S space(CCNP remake after the introduction of CCIE RSv4).
Actually CCIE SP has completed new version design. From the certification structure, CCIE SP and CCIP is in same line, I think CCIP is in updating, but not know in detail.
Hi, Vincent zhou
There is gone change in SP every one knows about it and most of them are talking about it ....
well it makes more anxious to have an idea what would change, how much percent in a blueprint would change
what a new technology could add to blueprint
and is there any plan to add a troubleshooting section in SP
and why is OEQ not out from other tracks why only from RNS and Voice
Tshoot section would be good to face in exam than OEQ
and when all this would change
The main change are IPv6 and IOS-XR will start test in lab exam. All test equipment operating software will update to recent version, so recent SP technology will reflect in the exam. In version 3, there is no plan of seperate topology for troubleshooting section. It's out of my scope to answer "why is OEQ not out from other tracks why only from RNS and Voice", for SP, short answer question remain in next version. for exact blueprint and deploy date, please wait for formal annoucemnent, thanks!
