    Does virl work on packet.net

    Stalin

Packet.net support is horrible. I have attempted 3 times to bring virl on their servers and never got successful.   Now I simply feel it is waste of time.

Has anyone successfully deployed it there? below is the log from my previous attempt.

          Ramonet

I am having some troubles also. I have set up everything as expected, terrarform up with my vagrant machine in a MAC, VPN connected, no external nor internal connectivity against the packet.net server. To be honest, I was considering this option as it is on demand, but I am considering some others always On solutions in ESXi...

Packet.net, as communicated from support side (they are really amazing!!) informed me that they had some issues yesterday afternoon (gmt+1 CET) with public ranges and had to add some more.

Here was a workaround suggested by Alejo and it worked for me

So here we go again.....virl not working right on packet.net

but i dont know what is going on now. I’m having strange TCP issues...

Also i changed settings on packet.net - saw DHCP true but under interfaces ip was static and i could not even ping the „packet.net“-gateway but i could ssh to packet.net box. And, if i manage to pull up / deploy a server - 1 from 10 times only. But i keep trying and reporting and trying again and again. it has to be solved.

alegalle Have you heard something last days? Run into issue as well? Is it maybe because of the license changed and users with 30nodes cannot deploy correct cause only 20possible? This should not be the case i hope. I had a great run but tried to install cluster...read way tooooo late that mitaka does not support clusters yet.../me fool

            best!

alegalle @Stalin hahah i dont get it...i run VIRL 1.3.156 on Fusion Pro...while i was trying to set up terraform and set up packet.net over OSX MBP late 2016 it was not working...client.ovpn was there but not under var/local/blabla,...then i went to my windows machine...went to VIRL UWM which is running on my MBP still...did not run the one on windows...and just tried over UWM to start over windows...and it WORKS. I’m connected, IP is reachable. This is what was NOT working over OSX - packet.net machine was there but i could not reach the ip i’ve saw under my servers. Strange? Or i did something wrong? i dont know.

                  alejo-VIRL Support

Sorry I missed your post... its been nutty.

Based on your errors and quickly reading your post, it looks the problem was with a cached or stored ssh key. This would be the reason it worked from one computer but not the original. Make sure that after destroying your packet server all of the associated files (ssh and project) and the server itself has been deleted.

On a side note, we did have some issues with packet launches over the past 48hrs but those problems are related to what you have posted here.

                    Hi Alejo,

Yup, i confirm issue been solved and i was able to deploy a baremetal_1 box and start a simulation from both hosts win10pro and macbookpro sierra. Thanks once again for the fast solution!
