This is referenced on their official VIRL site: NXOSv - more info (Updated 4/10/2016) I believe that a newer version of NX-OSv has either been released or is very soon to be released and perhaps they'll expand the list of supported features. However, as of right now I believe that vPC is in the NOT SUPPORTED list.
With your valid cso account, you can download latest NXOSv 9000
But currently even on the latest image does not support vPC (only allow you to enable feature and see the show commands)
I agree with you. But it's very confusing and not usable. It's very strange because it is possible to configure vPC with all the features. BUT after vPC configuration I noticed keepalive will not be recognized as working:
vPC domain id : 10
Peer status : peer link is down
vPC keep-alive status : Suspended (Destination IP not reachable)
Configuration consistency status : failed
Per-vlan consistency status : success
But ping works:
xxxxxxxx(config-if)# ping 192.168.1.2
PING 192.168.1.2 (192.168.1.2): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.1.2: icmp_seq=0 ttl=254 time=8.024 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=254 time=9.233 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.2: icmp_seq=2 ttl=254 time=11.241 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.2: icmp_seq=3 ttl=254 time=6.253 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.2: icmp_seq=4 ttl=254 time=5.336 ms
Also regarding the Peer Link is up with the message:
xxxxxxxxxxx(config-if)# sh int po 10
port-channel10 is down (inactive)
admin state is up,...
All the interfaces are up!
Hopefully these features will work soon...
finally!!! but not yet personally tested
Not supported in Cisco NX-OS Release 7.0(3)I5(1) but supported in Cisco NX-OS Release 7.0(3)I5(2)
So I was able to manually install Cisco NX-OS Release 7.0(3)I5(2) on VIRL . You have to download the images here:Cisco Systems
I tried vmdk, ova and qcow2 images but ended up with qcow2. I looked for the images in the VM and check the file type of the images stored and it said quemu qcow.
Go to UWM, node resources, images.
For subtype select NX-OSv 9000. I left the name/version blank. Release 7.0.3.I5.2 and create.
In VM Maestro, go to File, Preferences, Node Subtypes. Select Fetch from Server (VIRL Server). You should see NX-OSv 9000added to the list but you need to change the value of "Show in Palette" to true so it can be displayed in the GUI. Hit Apply and OK. That's it. Try vPC!
