    IINS exam preparation materials - What is the better resource to both learn the concepts and pass the exam?

      I always believed that the Cisco Press books are a great resource at learning new concepts the Cisco way and at preparing for the certification exams. Having said that, I always find that Cisco Press has two types of books aimed at the certifications.

      1) Authorized Self-study guides

      2) Official Exam certification guides

      This is the same, for CCNA - Security too. The two books are

      1) http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587058154          ->     Authorized self-study guide

      2) http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587202204          ->     Official Exam Certification guide

      When I prepared for CCNA, I never bothered about the Self-study guides. I found the Exam Certification guides very comprehensive and they helped me pass the exam with ease. However, this does not seem to be so in case of CCNA - Security. I find many posts in other forums that explicitly state that the CCNA-Security Exam certification guide has more than a few shortcomings and you need both the books to pass the exam.

      If any one has more information about this matter, please share your thoughts as it will immensely help others like me who are in the dark. If you have already attempted the exam, that would provide an even better insight.

      Specifically, I am looking at the shortcomings in the Exam Certification Guide, and how the authorized self-study guide supplements this issue.

      Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thank you all in advance for your input.
