    how increase OSPF (IA) mertic

      Hi, i wont increase ospf metric for one route 10.1.2.0/30 via distribute-list&route-map, but i have a problem, plz show my config and help me.

            Distribute lists are not used to modify prefix attributes, but to filter routing prefixes instead. In order to modify the inter-area costs you could use the "ip ospf cost" interface command, you could change the cost with summarization or if it's a NBMA or Broadcast network you could use the "cost" keyword in the neighbor sentence in order to modify the cost of the transit used to reach the stubs network.

              this is only one way update OSPF (O IA) metric - via "ip ospf cost 250" interface sub command?

                      As i said you have multiple options. A workarround would be with the "Area <AREA> range <IP ADDRESS> <MASK> cost <COST>" command. You could basically use this command, but specifying the exact match of the IP address, and send it to the other area with the cost you want. An example would be like this:

                       

                      R1(config-router)#area 1 range 10.1.2.0 255.255.255.252 cost 40

                       

                      With this command you are basically establishing that when R1 (which is an ABR between area 0 and 1) is sending the 10.1.2.0/30 prefix from area 1 to other areas it will set a cost of 40.
