trouble with packet tracer lab 2

    Bill

      Hello All,

I am working on the packet tracer lab # 2 and I am having a problem with the trunk portion.  I am showing my trunks are up.  Operation mode is trunk.  I have connectivity, from what I can tell, however, on the lab it is showing the "type" is incorrect on all the trunks.  The details to the error don't give any more detail then that.  Has anyone else seen this?  I am thinking this is probably a basic user error issue, however, after quite some time I cannot find the problem.

      The steps are:

      3. Choose the right cable to connect :

        - Switch0 gigabitethernet 1/1 to Switch1 gigabitethernet 1/1

        - Switch1 gigabitethernet 1/2 to Switch2 gigabitethernet 1/2

      4. Configure those two links as trunk lines without using trunk negotiation between switches

so for the switch1 to switch2 config I have this:

      switch1:

      interface GigabitEthernet1/2

      switchport mode trunk

      Switch#show interfa giga 1/2 switchport

      Name: Gig1/2

      Switchport: Enabled

      Administrative Mode: trunk

      Operational Mode: trunk

      Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

      Operational Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q

      Negotiation of Trunking: On

      Access Mode VLAN: 1 (default)

Trunking Native Mode VLAN: 1 (default)

      Voice VLAN: none

      Administrative private-vlan host-association: none

      Switch#show interfaces trunk

      Switch#

For switch 2 I have this:

      !

      interface GigabitEthernet1/2

      switchport mode trunk

      Switch#show interfa giga 1/2 switchport

      Switch#

      Switch#show interfa trunk

Port        Mode         Encapsulation  Status        Native vlan

      Gig1/2      on           802.1q         trunking      1

      Port        Vlans allowed on trunk

      Gig1/2      1-1005

Port        Vlans allowed and active in management domain

      Gig1/2      1

Port        Vlans in spanning tree forwarding state and not pruned

      Gig1/2      1

      Switch#

Any advice to figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
