    stp timers

      Hey guys,

I just read the following few lines from the Cisco website:

"As the Spanning Tree Protocol Timers section mentions, each BPDU includes the hello, forward delay, and max age STP timers. An IEEE bridge is not concerned about the local configuration of the timers value. The IEEE bridge considers the value of the timers in the BPDU that the bridge receives"

I was wondering why it only cares about the timers that it is receiving?  If the switch is not concerned with its own hello timer or max age, then that is a pretty huge thing not to be concerned about.  Can anyone elaborate exactly what and why Cisco mean by this please?
