Thanks in advance for helping me and sorry if i disturb you
have you restarted PC since installation of VMware ? VMware player installs 2 or 3 VM NICs, look for virtual NICs in network properties of OS. are those in there ?
Your options are : bridge, NAT, host only. you must add Virtual network to virtual machine before installing CUCM.
I recommand adding Bridge VMNet whoch means "bridge" to your physical NIC on Host PC.
AMD might halt your installation at very end. it might take 2-3 hrs to finish intalling CUCM, I think that is becasue of AMD processors. or will not work after rebooting. Intel is needed.
Using an AMD platform for any Cisco Appliance is not a good idea but does not need to be a show-stopper. If you use AMD the install should work but then there is at least the "Media Streaming Service" which will never start. You will notice a warning (yellow warning remark) during boot complaining about a missing folder ".athlon". This can be fixed by breaking into root and then copying the i686 folders as .athlon folders. If you can, please use an intel chipset to avoid repeating this proces every time you do an update. As I said, it's not a showstopper but an annoying task to fix it. I think it is needless to say that Cisco will never ever support a "jailbroken" server, but as long this is just a test/demo machine it doesn't care anyway.
I tried cucm 6.0.1 on another AMD processor machine (without doing any changes ) with VMware player 4 and I used Linix-3 Everything was fine till the end. But when VMware gave me message to login in CUCM as
LocalHost Login :
its not accepting my login and password. I carefully typed login and password without mistake but its not accepting login and password. Also I am not able to connect via Web GUI by using CUCM IP address which is
IP : 192.168.1.10
Mask : 255.255.255.0
DG : 192.168.1.1
Can you please help me.. thank you very much for your support
I have never had the issue that a login is denied on any platform after an install, AMD or Intel. The Linux versions you specify in VMware are recommended to be set to V4-32 bit for all Versions up to CUCM 8.5 and use V5-32 bit from 8.6 on. If you have chosen another version, this should not keep you away from being able to log in. The user and password you specified during the installation are different for the CLI and the administative web-pages. As I can recall you specify first the OS-credentials, then the database security password, then the application user is defined. Maybe you have confused the accounts. Just a guess.
I am getting an error too I am using VMware workstation 7, Linux 4-32bit for CUCM 8.5.1,2048 Memory, 80 GB disk space, Core 2 duo , 2 processor
but for me its not installation error,
what I am doing is I am Skipping the base configuration and doing installation ,
then I am doing base configuration after installation,
it gives me error for network connectivity check,I am using Host-only for network connection
and if I ignore that and move ahead then I am getting error at NTP server configuration,
it always asks for external NTP server as ref, not like the other versions of CUCM that you say no for external NTP server and then specify the time it self on CUCM,
so does that mean I need to give External IP only for NTP server or there is some work around.
Rest is fine in my case, installation is done very smooth...
