Jeremy C of CBT Nuggets fame recommends PRTG, it has a freeware version with up to 20 sensors and is easy to setup.......worth a shot!
EDIT, you need to post a banner of PRTG on your website to get 20 sensors, 10 sensors is the standard freeware version, plenty for a bit of playing around!
Thanks, I looked at the demo on their site and I am not sure if it it what I expected.
If I understand correctly, you can setup probes and monitor them.
This is not what I expected.
I expected to to be able to extract info from the device like number of packets on the interface or track the interface status.
I tried PRTG and it works fine in windows (not working well in Wine under Ubuntu)
I managed to set it up so the PRTG can poll info from my CAT3550
I also configured CAT3550 to send traps to my host
if I open wireshark I can see regular requests/replies as well as traps reaching my NIC.
the request/response data is showing in PRTG
on the other hand the SNMP Trap Receiver still shows 0 traps received
how can I use PRTG as a trap receiver?
