In this post:
it has the screen shots and settings for the Windows 7 computer, as well as the settings for the IOS device.
If you follow them to the letter, and reboot and verify they are set the same, you will have success.
I have been through your pain, and hopefully this will help.
Thanks for the quick response.
I finally figured it out. Well, I got it to work on XP. Still can't get it to work in Linux or 7, but one working machine is OK for now.
Despite the fact that I had the Java integration with the browsers set to the correct version, I still had to uninstall every other verstion of Java, reboot, uninstall Firefox, reboot, then reinstall JRE 1.6u3, reboot, then reinstall Firefox and reboot one last time.
Now it works.
I find it quite odd that a company that built it's reputation on security requires you to install a vulnerable version of the JRE and use either Firefox or IE to get certified on their products. Meanwhile, Chrome is unsupported. Despite the fact that it's design almost guarantees it is hack-proof. Even if malicious code is introduced, all an attacker can do is get into the sandbox, and they can't really do anything once they get there. Check out the last to pwn2own competitions.
Thanks again for the help,
So, are you saying I wasted my money on this:
Studying for this has been my full-time job for the last month, and will continue to be for the next 3 weeks. I don't mind investing a little money now to put myself in a place to succeed over the next 20 years. If this goes well, my plan is CCNP Security by the end of the year, or at least in the next 12 months.
In case those pictures aren't clear:
2 x 2620XM (48/128) one with a WIC 1T and the other with a NM 4A/S
1 x 2811 (64/256) with WIC 1ADSL, WIC 1T, and WIC 1DSU-T1 V2
3 x WS-C2950C
17u CPI Rack w/ Trip-Lite 12 Outlet power strip (both were gifts from a guy I bought one of the switches from!)
The netbook was just up there for the Console connection and the speakers were so I could hear the netbook over the fan noise. BTW-Binder clips and cable couplers make a great poor-mans patch panel.
This equipment will service me for at least a couple of years in pursuing further certs.
