    APIC Clustering

    • One Fabric Cluster should have 3 APIC (5 for larger scale)
    • APIC Clustering
      • Load-balancing
        • Sharding
      • Redundancy
        • Shard Replication


    APIC Clustering: Sharding

    • Load-balancing
    • Splitting System into 32 Shards
    • Data-set split between APICs
    • Leader takes responsibility of changes for the data-set


    APIC Database Consistency Replication

    • Redundancy
    • Each APIC gets synchronized database
    • Leader is elected
    • All Followers contact leader to get data
    • If Leader is down, new leader gets elected


    APIC Database Consistency Replication - Split Brain

    • If replica is not connected to any other replicas is is said to be in minority
    • No write request allowed on minority to avoid issues with merging
      • No configuration change
      • No vCenter update handled
      • No updates from switches handled
    • Red request continue to be served from minority
    • NOTE: Irrespective of cluster size, two **** down or disconnected will cause some shard to be in minority
