Fundamentals of Multi-Tenancy in VXLAN: Lesson 2: VXLAN with BGP EVPN

Presented by David Jansen and Lukas Krattiger

In this second video from the Fundamentals of Multi-Tenancy in VXLAN series, CCIE Cisco Press author David Jansen first explains the added benefits of incorporating Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Ethernet VPN (EVPN) with VXLAN. With the introduction of Network Layer Reachability Information (NLRI), Multiprotocol BGP (MP-BGP) contains both Layer-2 MAC and Layer-3 IP information, allowing optimized routing and switching during forwarding decisions. David states this ability essentially improves the Flood and Learn semantics and reduces bad traffic, such as Broadcast, Unicast, and Multicast (***) traffic, from flooding all devices participating in the fabric.
