Cisco is continuing on our next-generation evolution to enhance its CCIE and CCDE Expert-level certification programs. The enhancement reflects our ongoing effort to build a workforce capable of moving rapidly and flexibly with the transformation of IT in our digital era.
Our latest enhancement introduces an agile and modular approach to the curriculum. By instituting exam changes more frequently but in smaller amounts, we aim to keep IT professionals nimble in their ability to rapidly adopt and deploy new products and evolving technologies.
The illustration below depicts an example of how the agile revision model will be using dot.revisions during each minor revision cycle until its next major revision occurs. Customer notification for each blueprint revision will be provided to give adequate notice period to candidates prior to any exam change; i.e. 4 months lead-time notification for each minor revision, and 6 months notification for each major revision.
The CCIE Service Provider certification program will serve as the pilot project for implementation and assessment of the new agile, modular approach. Candidates who wish to pursue a CCIE Service Provider certification will have the option to utilize the existing v4.0 written and lab exam topics for exams scheduled BEFORE June 21, 2017. Candidates scheduled to take exams ON June 21, 2017 or beyond will need to reference the new v4.1 agile, unified written and lab exam topics.
NOTE: No changes were made to the CCIE Service Provider exam formats in this minor revision. The CCIE Service Provider written exam number (400-201) remains unchanged, the lab exam format remains identical and continues to consist of three modules: Troubleshooting, Diagnostic, and Configuration module.
For more details on the domain revisions between v4.0 and v4.1 exam topics, visit the Cisco CCIE Service Provider v4.1 Content Updates. The remaining Expert-level certifications will convert to the agile, modular approach during their normal revision cycle.
As Cisco strives to help the IT networking community grow into the right skill sets for increasingly digital job roles, we want to provide you with a new learning matrix for each of the Expert-level technology tracks to aid you in preparing for each of the written and lab exams. The learning matrix identifies the necessary resources aligned to the domains listed in the exam topics. You can find the learning matrix in the written and lab Study/Learn tabs for each Expert-level certification.
