Cisco Introduces Continuing Education Program to Advance the Technical Workforce

This month Cisco announced our new Continuing Education Program.  Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts (CCIEs) and Cisco Certified Design Experts (CCDEs) with an active, emeritus or suspended status now have an option to recertify by earning credits through continuing education. This is an alternative to taking a written certification exam every two years. Adding this program to our currently established programs underscores our commitment to developing the talent needed to help businesses transform, innovate and grow in the digital age.

Learner preferences are changing, and the need for flexible options to gain skills on demand and stay current on emerging and evolving technologies have become more pressing.  Continuous and integrated learning keeps certified professionals positioned for leadership and innovation in the workforce and allows them to maintain their current Cisco certification status in order to be subject matter experts in their technology fields for their employers. According to Senior Director of Product Strategy & Marketing, Tejas Vashi, “Certified professionals are critical to digital business transformation. As Cisco certifications are among the most highly valued in the industry, we continue to empower professionals to upskill and recertify based on the latest technologies, while offering flexible options for learning when and how is best for them, their schedules and lives. Continuing Education is just the latest example of how Learning@Cisco is advancing talent truly capable of making business transformation possible.”

The Continuing Education Program is designed to meet both the needs of both employers and learners as organizations undergo digital business transformation.  As emerging technologies, such as network programmability, Internet of Things and cloud, are becoming central to organizations’ business growth strategies, a technical workforce that evolves at the same pace, or even faster, to deliver the skills organizations need are highly sought after.  So, how exactly has Cisco positioned the program to help learners advance their careers?  Through the program, existing Expert level Cisco certified individuals are provided an alternative option for recertification in addition to the already existing option of recertifying by passing the relevant exam(s). These individuals are allowed a wide range of pre-approved items which includes authorized learning materials and activities that are current, convenient, customized and continuously available through online courses, instructor-led trainings, authoring exam items and Cisco Live trainings. An online portal has been established for the Continuing Education Program to detail learning options, authorized providers, validate credits and help learners track their progress. Eligible individuals can access this portal by clickinghttps://ce.cisco.comand logging in using their CCO ID & password. Courses are offered through Cisco authorized content providers who deliver the content to the individual seeking recertification and validate the claims submitted by that individual through our online portal.

The rollout of this new program is an exciting step for the growth of Learning@Cisco and our candidates. We hope that as certified professionals, you will familiarize yourselves with all of the options available to you to continue your career advancement by learning more and visiting the Continuing Education Program page on the Learning Network.
